Solar Energy - How It Works

The sun provides more energy in one hour than the entire world uses during a whole year. Solar panels can capture and utilize this abundant, free, renewable energy.

There are two types of solar energy conversion you may use, solar thermal and photovoltaic (PV):

  • The solar thermal method uses energy from the sun directly to generate heat. Solar thermal panels can be used to collect heat from the sun and transfer it for water and space heating in buildings.
  • Photovoltaic Panels will convert sunlight into actual usable electricity. Multiple panels can be installed depending on the task.

The panels are connected to an inverter which will convert the solar energy into usable electricity. Panels are not effected by weather changes throughout the year having a life expectancy of 30 years. With Saskatchewan having some of the best sunlight coverage in the world investing in solar will show you significant savings in your utility bills and the environment!
